High Definition TV is GREAT!

So my new best friend, the cable guy, showed up on Saturday to hook me up with high definition service. I love it! The picture is just amazing. It's not that I've never seen a high definition picture before, I just haven't seen it IN MY HOUSE before! I'm definitely pleased. I only wish Charter carried more HD channels. The DVR/Cable box they gave me is apparently so new that the customer support reps have had manuals for it for less than a week. At least that was true when I called on Saturday. I couldn't figure out how to setup what TiVo calls a season pass. I much prefer the TiVo interface, but this DVR seems to do all the important stuff so it will do.

I was about an hour late to my geocaching club event on Saturday. Equal parts of work, waiting on the cable guy, and playing around with the DVR after he left contributed to my being late. Still, I had fun and it was cool to put faces with some of the names I see online.

Sunday was uneventful but Monday made up for it. Work was f***ing CRAZY all day. My first call was a little before 6:30 and I didn't get finished until after 11:00 last night. Now, that doesn't mean I was actually working the entire time. I determined I had about 12 billable hours. Add that to the 4 hours I put in over the weekend and I'm a full day ahead of the work week. I think I'm going to take Friday off. I could probably turn it in as extra billable hours, but I'd prefer to have a day off.

I've had to take a lot of phone calls today, but they've all been about stuff that I can't actually do anything about. The majority of the time has been spent explaining why it's "not my problem." I don't really mean it that way and I certainly don't say that, but I can no more help with the problems I'm being called about today than I could help with open heart surgery.

I guess I better get back to working on the stuff I can help with.
