Hey, I'm the other person on your f-list watching The Killing. :)

I love the tone and mood of the show but I'm struggling a bit with these last few episodes. The mystery is interesting and I love Holder (WHAT is going ON with him WHAT) I'm not thrilled with the scenes dealing with the family's grief. That's just painful to watch and not the sort of thing I consider entertainment. It feels a bit exploitative, even, and I wish they'd focus more time elsewhere.

Also can't even pretend like the teacher could be the killer because come on... it's just GOT to be tied to the political stuff or we wouldn't be spending so much time there, right? So yeah, these middle episodes are all about giving us red herrings before the story focuses fully on the campaign.

As for the Dany/Drogo rape scene -- I actually liked it better than how it was written in the book. I rolled my eyes at that scene (in the book) because it was just such a silly male fantasy: a terrified child-virgin forced into marriage with a (seeming) brute is suddenly eagerly wanting sex with him after a little foreplay. Not likely! I think the storytelling in the series is more honest because gross as it seems to us today, she was sold like an object and raped. Such was the lot of most noble women it the dark ages before we were considered human and had rights.
