most of you in supernatural fandom are already aware of the recent racefail debacle stemming from the spn_j2_bigbang fic caught between the earth and sky, which was written by gatorgrrrl and illustrated by mementis. i am mentioning this in my lj because i have a lot of friends from other fandoms, and something like this deserves as much signal-boosting as possible ( Read more... )

man, this fic and that horrific "outsourcing" trailer ALL IN THE SAME DAY was just too much. i need to post about that shit too :/ *hugs*

honestly, i've been thinking the same. how could EVERYONE FAIL TO MENTION SOMETHING? it's truly angering/disheartening to think that it no one realised there was a massive problem with her fic UNTIL it was posted.

to be honest, being "clueless" doesn't absolve her of posting a fic that is racist in nature. do i think she purposely set out to write a story that would hurt so many? no. but just because she didn't mean to doesn't mean it wasn't offensive.

being racist and bigoted is far more cruel than being called a racist.

yeh, i don't understand how she could be so clueless. and okay, i can see how ONE person might not realise it's a horrible idea, but she thanked a NUMBER of people in her A/N - how did none of them find it offensive?
