[Given the fact that an alarm has sounded and one of the guards has hurried to the computer for a sitrep because of it, maybe said help is on the way? Or at least trying to be?]

So what else is new? XD dedikayted June 13 2011, 07:54:24 UTC
[Kay is actually tied to a chair in a small room at the very end of the corridor. Said room is locked up tight and guarded; for some reason she is this valuable.

But she can hear the alarm from inside. Hey - something's happening! She keeps on struggling, though...]

[A few minutes pass... then the guard at the computer shakes his head. "False alarm. Half the guards probably ran over there, too... Everyone on your toes." Gun safeties are heard clicking off...]

[Kay hears the clattering footsteps of her guards running off somewhere. Whatever had triggered the alarm had definitely caught their attention. It was probably something so big that they had to be called off, but she heard loud clicks on the other side of her door.

Precautions. Just to be sure she couldn't leave. But how could she? She had been disarmed, completely stripped of her weapons and lock picks...and these knots were tight. Very tight. Still, she had time to wonder what the heck was going on.]

What the...?

[Is it just you, or is the room getting a bit stuffier?...

Did the lights just flicker?...

Was that a flash of some reddish color in the shadows of one of the air ducts?...]

Aaah - who's there?! [Kay cranes her neck toward the source of the odd red light. Something was really going on.

Hopefully this something was exactly what she needed to get out of here...]

[Unfortunately, the question prompts a response not from the air duct, but from the door -- there's a brief discussion between the guards before one unlocks the door and steps in with a semi-auto, which he aims at Kay.

"Who's where, missy?"]

[Kay quickly faces the guards, shaking her head.]

Uh...ummmm...

[Think, Kay, think! If the guy or whatever was in the air duct is not on your side, why would they need to use the air duct in the first place? Just because you're all tied up doesn't mean you can't lend them a hand!]

Oh...the alarm went off, right? What's going on?

["That's none o' yer business -- but what you were reactin' to is ours."

Seems this guy hasn't thought to look towards the air duct, but if anything more is happening over that way it's not obvious anyway...]

...I was only asking, what's wrong with that?

[Kay rolls her eyes and pouts.

Maybe she could buy some time...and she resists the urge to glance at the air duct again.]

["What's wrong is that you're not the one in a position to be askin' questions."

Before he can say anything further, however, he suddenly grunts and grabs the side of his neck that was facing the air duct with a wince... before his eyes roll back into his head and he collapses to the ground.]

[And before Kay can think of a witty retort, she gasps, nearly falling over backward, chair and all. Her hands are clearly tied up, all her weapons were taken from her...there was no way she could have done it.

She quickly turns toward the air duct in curiosity and...perhaps some slight trepidation.]

[...to see a blowgun quickly retreat into the duct even as the other remaining guard rushes in and kneels next to the one that just fainted, taking his pulse.

"Carlos! Damn, at least you're still alive..."]

[Was that...a blowgun? No way...

And then it was gone.

Kay decides to take this moment to try and free herself again. Maybe she could slowly slip out of the ropes? She would deal with the last guard once she was free. And she starts sneaking glances toward that weird air duct.]
