[Soul really didn't want to have to approach his boss about this, but it was kind of a serious matter, really. Especially given the circumstances of the last agent let out on the field.]
[Neji glanced up from his desk, taking in Soul's posture and the strain of anxiety in his address, and set aside the report he had been reading over. At least one pay cut was in order, but that could be handled later. It wasn't often his top technician stepped into his office in person without being summoned]
Soul. How are things progressing in your department? I'm looking forward to seeing the results of your most recent projects.
who on earth put Soul in charge of technology. seriously.brbomnomsoulsJune 13 2011, 07:11:35 UTC
[He rubs the back of his head, one hand in resting in the pocket of his coveralls. At the question, he kind of winces, stepping a bit further into the office with an unsure glance.]
See, that's the thing. We were going to give it a trial run today but for some reason [sigh, he can't do this] for some reason one of the new recruits in the tech department gave it to an agent yesterday. In its incomplete form.
[The implications of that were quick to settle in. If it wasn't potentially threatening to the agent or their mission, it's unlikely Soul would bring it to his attention. Not to mention, he took pride in the organization's efficient technology and an incomplete device wasn't likely to be safeguarded if it fell into the wrong hands. Paranoid? Slightly, but his caution generally served them well]
...What are the hazards of this case in particular? [No need to panic just yet, but if the agent was sent out yesterday, it'd likely be far too late to intercept them now.] When did you hear about this?
This morning, when we were going to give it to an experienced agent to test it out. [Soul pinches the bridge of his nose with a sigh.] Basically it's a device that lets you open a portal to anywhere in the world. Given the circumstances of how underdeveloped it was when it was given to the other agent, it's possible it could open up a portal into space.
So we may not see that agent again if he uses it. [Nice. Neji resists the urge to knead his forehead and rifles through a few papers instead.]
I want that technician in my office. [A good dressing down will make him feel better] In the meantime, run visuals and keep trying to establish contact with the agent and inform me of any new developments or otherwise.
I'll get in contact with the client and provide any information that may aid in your search... [He's already pulling a phone to his ear (so maybe he was a little old fashioned) and looks back to Soul]

If that's everything, you're dismissed.
