Hosting recs

no, I did not remove Intertexius.     The hosting provider just decided to 'upgrade' their servers and thus migrate our account to a new location- over the holidays, with no warning via email or on the login to website panel.  Not just that, but chat based customer support was closed thru the holidays so I had no clue WTF was going on (they have a phone number but I most of the time i waste a chunk of time and money on hold only to get someone I cant understand due to their accent and my problems with sensory integration from being Autistic)

Some of it is back now but not all of it- eg: several folders are empty, the FTP users passwords don't work, and all our galleries, wordpress journals, and wikis (for fic notes) are broken (I've tried updating the wordpress info in the config files, but their site won't allow me to update any of the files! and I can't log in by Filezilla at all!).   We have multiple wordpress, galleries, wikis etc installed- yet their site claims we have "no applications installed"- even though I can see the files and the MySQL databases (although half of them are in a never ending 'updating' loop, so I can't back them all up!  Hopefully its a matter of their just not being done with transfering things and setting things back up, but at this point, I'm just wanting to get it back online so I can back it up, and move to a new hosting company.

I know, I've said I was going to move before, but various things got in the way- not having the money, being in the hospital when it auto-renewed, etc.  Our hosting is paid thru August, but I figure I've just got to cut our losses and move when we can, rather than trying to do it closer to August.  Having all of one's domains down since Dec 21st (according to the access logs), and all the links to the databases broken so I have to manually fix everything, and half the files misteriously missing... way beyond any previous complaint and unforgivable for a hosting company to do that with no warning, and no apology or even help getting things back up and/or refund for the down time (2 weeks now for some of my domains)

I was reccommended Dreamhost before.  But that was a few years ago.   Still very good?    Other good recs?

I need: Linux server (not windows), ability to host multiple domains, multiple FTP users, email, and I believe I need PHP for WordPress, but more important is Perl.   Oh and of course Friendly to explicit Fannish art and fic! ;-D

Would be nice to be able to renew and manage domains at the same place, but not necissary.

I hate googling for hosting rec's because its never clear who wrote the recs and what their relationship is to the compan(ies) they are reccing.
