I hope you all had a lovely Yuletide experience, I know I did.
I told you guys already about my wonderful gifts, and on top of those I found so much to read and like and comment on as well. It's been fantastic so far and I'm still working my way through the archive and reading all the longfic I saved for later.
I feel so lucky to have written as much as I did too, and to have those stories be liked by the recipients, and to do as well as they did on their own terms within the fest as well. Yuletide was amazing for me this year despite a shaky start.
I wrote an Eagle fic for
epicwincookies as my assignment this year - it was so wonderful to immerse myself in this fandom again, I love it so much. There is so much stoic beauty and heart in Marcus and so much stubborn, righteous edge to Esca, I just adore them. The request called for Happy Gay Farmers, loyalty and friendship... naturally this just screams tattooing each other, no?
Title: Vision of a Gentle Coast
Fandom: The Eagle
Pairing: Esca Mac Cunoval/Marcus Flavius Aquila

Word Count: 4128
Summary: Esca asks a boon of Marcus. When the day comes there is only he and Marcus, a large jug of wine, a small pot of woad and the feat they have achieved together.
Notes: Most grateful thanks to
Emjayelle for the excellent beta and to
Sineala for mission assist ♥
Read on AO3 I also ended up writing a pinch hit for Crimson Peak. I just really loved the prompt about exploring what it might have been like for Lucille and Thomas growing up in that house, it was an immediate kind of YES, i want to think about this, about how they'd end up together and what drove them to some of the crimes they committed. So I grabbed this one and really enjoyed working on it. The recipient also stated they liked vignettes and showing the passage of time so I had a play around with those things as well.

nary Read on AO3 Aaaaaaaand I loved working on that first one so much that when this pinch hit came up 2 days out from deadline I grabbed it too, because the possibility of exploring a way to have a happy ending as the recipient requested really appealed to me after delving into impending darkness in the previous story. So I thought, what if Lucille and Thomas hadn't yet been to London, or Milan, or Edinburgh? What if their first stop was Buffalo and there weren't any dead heiresses haunting Crimson Peak yet? What if Edith happened to them both first?
