DM'd 3e/3.5 for the first time last night - I haven't really been a DM since second edition, and it was kinda trippy.  We used the Pathfinder revisions, which made things simpler.  Feedback from my group was pretty much universally positive, and my own criticisms (such as that I need to speed up my combat and be more familiar with the monsters I ( Read more... )

The DMG has some good advice to give DMs, though much of the first chapter or so is more or less copy/pasted from 3e (the 'player types', etc).  The bit on DM style I found interesting, though not really from the standpoint that was intended - I would give that list, as a DM, to my players to find out what they wanted out of a campaign.  However, ( Read more... )

Why am I only seeing five alignments?  APPARENTLY NEUTRAL AND CHAOTIC ARE THE SAME THING, and neutrality doesn't exist.  Good, Lawful Good, Evil, Chaotic Evil, and Unaligned are the only alignments ever.  And what the hell happened to the gods?  Did we change pantheons while I wasn't looking?
