"Best of Carson" - Guest: Dick Cavett. Also, a segment about calendars. (NOTE: The last segment was "missing" from the archives, so a different monologue is substituted in this episode)
The Tape & Record Show: Episode 251. Broadcast Thursday, July 30,1981 at 5:00pm central. Theme Music: New Asteroid Field(John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra). "Best of Carson" - Monologue, guest Lillian Carter, and a Tea Time Movie.
The Tape & Record Show: Episode 260. Broadcast Thursday, August 13,1981 at 5:00pm central. Theme Music: New Asteroid Field(John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra). "Best of Carson" - Johnny discusses some of the things the networks didn't cover about the Royal wedding, guest Burt Reynolds."
As I added in the description of episode 243, the "bonus segment" by Johnny Carson to "pad out" the half hour was missing in the archives, so I improvised with a random monologue from around the same time which WAS still in the archives. Yes, I "cheated" a bit from what was written on the old index cards.
Episode 251, in a partial episode of "The Tonight Show", Johnny Carson talks about gas shortages, Skylab, in the monologue. President Jimmy Carter's mother Lillian is guest. Johnny as "Art Fern" does ads for the "Tea Time Movie" with Carol Wayne.
Episode 260, another partial episode of "The Tonight Show", Johnny interviews Burt Reynolds, and discusses the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana. Burt was upset he had never been invited to be in a "Mighty Carson Art Players" sketch, Johnny was upset Burt hadn't cast him in a movie.
