I exercised like a madman at the gym last night. I've been going only 2 or 3 times a week lately, tho. I'll need to improve on that if I'm to hit the surf at Malibu this summer.
I've been planning out our July trip to the U.S. lately, but at the same time conscious that I don't want to plan it out too much. I want to remain very flexible and go with what we feel like doing at the time. Linda is a bit wary of all the driving we plan to do, so I think the strategy should be to drive a bit, be somewhere enjoyable a bit and then drive a bit more... but take things as it comes... not try to do too much and ruin the holiday....
I think it'll be fine, with a good balance of relaxation, fun things to see and driving places...
Here's the current plan:
Las Vegas (2 nights)
Grand Canyon
then back to the Phoenix area where my parents live
Stay in Arizona for almost a week (visit Tim, a Native American friend as well)
Possible day trip to Mexican border ?
Drive to L.A.
Visit Hollywood, other L.A. things... possibly Ronald Reagan Presidential Library
Drive up the coast
Visit Monterrey area, perhaps visit the aquarium there
San Francisco - visit the flower children and cable cars
fit in a wildlife rehabilitation center or American Indian museum somewhere
Napa Valley / wine country
Northern California / Redwoods
and on up the Oregon coast to go to my cousin Tambi's wedding
Meet my brother and family there
Travel to Seattle where we have tickets to see the Red Sox play the Seattle Mariners
Meet my friend Lois and her family at the game
Spend a few days with everyone at Mount Rainier, visit Mount St. Helens
Down to Longview, WA to visit relatives for a few days
Then it's drive (or fly if we can't take anymore) back down to Las Vegas for the flight home
I'm looking forward to it ! Woo Hoo. Only 3 1/2 months to go ! Doh.
