American Idiot
Being added to my "Song Hall of Fame" is... "American Idiot" by Green Day.
I'm a pretty politically-minded person and I tend to lean toward the left so a lot of what this song says appeals to me. It came out in about 2004 during the George W. Bush years... which was right around the time I had been living in Britain for a couple years already. Living in another country really does change your perspective about your home country and how they are perceived elsewhere. The USA is far too conservative and blindly patriotic for my tastes, big areas of it anyway, especially after 911. The title American Idiot just resonates with me when I think of the USA and some people... and I don't want to be an American idiot.
