Christmas Letter

Linda wrote a Christmas Letter...

Christmas 2006

Well, it’s that time again. This has been one of the busiest years in recent memory.

We started off in January with Jenny’s 21st birthday and party. We had the most wonderful time and we were all very proud of her. She was very beautiful (photos enclosed). To those of you who received very late thank you letters, please accept my apologies - I forgot to post them and got a row from Jenny!!! J

In June Jenny graduated from Edinburgh University with a Master of Arts (Honours) in Psychology. My Mum, Darrin and I went up to the ceremony and we were again very proud. Her boyfriend, Andy, and her best friend, Sarah, came up in the evening and we all, along with her flatmate, Lisa, went out for dinner at the Grail Restaurant opposite Rosslyn Chapel. It was a lovely day.

In the summer we went off to the States for 4 weeks. We arrived in Las Vegas where my parents-in-law, Doug and Marcia, met us and we stayed a few day there before going to the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley on our way to their nice new house in Arizona. While there we visited our Native American friend, Tim, and his beautiful family. We had a great time with them. We then travelled through California (visiting LA, San Francisco, Monterey) to Oregon to cousin Tambi’s wedding which was on the beach. Jenny and Andy were also travelling through the U.S. and they also came to the wedding, as did my brother- and sister-in-law, Brian and Debbie, and gorgeous nephews, Michael and Peter. We then travelled to Washington State to catch up with family there, and we stayed a few nights with Aunt Kathy. It was so nice to meet all our wonderful family from the west coast. I especially loved Oregon and Washington State, as I am a country girl at heart!  We then flew back to Las Vegas for a few days, then home.

Jenny and Andy then continued their trip (we kind of criss crossed), going to many of the same places as we did, but also Salt Lake City, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston and New York City. They had the most fantastic time.

Jenny is now at Edinburgh University doing a postgraduate diploma in primary teaching and loving every minute. She will make a fantastic teacher.

My Aunt Suzanne from Canada visited earlier in the year and it was really nice to see her.

We are all doing well here. My Mum is well and keeps busy, mainly doing things for us. I don't know what we’d do without her. We miss my Dad and Aunt Irene terribly but we know they are still with us.

Our furries are doing well, although we lost our old bunny, Whisper, on my birthday in May. He was an old gentleman and had been fit until that day. We have since welcomed Clara (a sweet white bunny) and Gizmo (a rescue grey lionhead rabbit and not named by us!) into our family. Our black lionhead, Tabitha, has disappeared and we think she must have somehow escaped. We hope she is okay. Otherwise they are all happy. I have done a fair bit of riding this year - I think Meggie is sick looking at me! J

Darrin is still working in Glasgow. He enjoys it but we wish he could find somewhere closer to home. We miss each other all week, but we cope.

I hope this finds you all well and happy. We wish you the best of everything, both at Christmas and in 2007.

Take care,
