Blocked Road
I had a heck of a time trying to get into work this morning. Just before Annan on the A75, traffic stopped. I should have tried to find out what was going on, but I just waited it out, expecting the traffic would start to move again…. but I ended up waiting and waiting.
Anyway, half hour later, I go down the road into the centre of Annan, finally… diverting around the A75 which ended up staying closed…. Thinking I could just get around the problem… only to find the centre of Annan itself was blocked off as they had had a fire there a night or two ago on the High Street….
I asked a cop how I could get by and get to Carlisle, but she advised I go north towards Lockerbie…. which I ended up doing…. several miles to Ecclefechan. Got into work a bit late.
I nearly decided just to turn around and go home, after the long wait. I was working from home yesterday… and should’ve done that today.
On the other hand… I’m glad I was able to get out of the house today so I could get a valentine’s day card and a few flowers for Linda.
Here’s some info below on why the road has been blocked today. Apparently it’s still blocked. Must have been a pretty bad accident. Glad I wasn’t involved… I think I would have been right around there if I had set out a half hour earlier.

A BUSY Scots road has been closed in both directions following a three-car smash.
Traffic Scotland confirmed the A75, at Annan, was shut down at around 6:50am today.

Emergency crews raced to the scene of the crash this morning
Cops are also at the scene of the collision.
Police Scotland Dumfries and Galloway wrote on X: "The A75 at Annan is currently closed due to an ongoing incident, as is the diversion through Annan High Street.
"As such, anyone travelling east or westbound should go via Lockerbie, A709."
An update from Traffic Scotland at 10:55am reads: "The A75 at Annan remains CLOSED in both directions due to a three-vehicle collision.
"Police and emergency services remain at the scene."
