Our holiday has begun. I was off last week too, but we were at home doing stuff. Now, we're away for a few days... up to the north in Scotland.
Yesterday we went up to Edinburgh to meet a friend, Karin, who had been on a hiking trip up in the Highlands. We spent the day with her and had a little cafe lunch at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and then toured the palace.
Linda is really into Mary Queen of Scots, and there were a few rooms in the palace that were her's. Lots of paintings and interesting things.
Beautiful day, but very busy with people. After the palace, we walked around the gardens a little.
We then had time to head to Rosslyn Chapel... and had a nice look around there. We were able to hear a nice talk from one of the people there, about the chapel.
Then we had a meal out at a place near Rosslyn. A really nice, busy day... and a good catch-up with an old friend from school.
We drove west to Linthithgow, where we stayed overnight. This morning, we'll be looking at Linlithgow palace (ruins) where Mary Queen of Scots was born.
