A/N: Somehow these prompts are not working for me. :/ Even though I get ideas, I can't really write those and be happy with it. ._.

Maybe the problem is that I already know the main subject and now try to "press" all prompts into this drawer?
Last year I just wrote the prompts without really thinking about the connection; I just went with the flow...

Meh, hope it will get better with the next few prompts - it's no real fun right now. -_-

John is not quite sure about where he stands with God and in how far he believes in the deity, but he enjoys the atmosphere of churches and graveyards.

They are quiet places, but it is not really the silence of sadness or loneliness (even on graveyards) - it is much more respectful and holy.
John can not really describe it, but he enjoys the solitude.

Sitting in one of the back benches John knows that he will not disturb anyone who comes into the church to pray and he let his eyes roam over the colourful windows and soft light illuminating the old building.

In most cases John is able to find what he is looking for (mostly a break from Sherlock’s newest experiment or bad moods), but today he mostly feels empty and it must be visible on his face.

At least John thinks so, when the Father, who normally accepts his silent visits without a second glance, sits down on the bench besides him.

“You look troubled, son,” the Father says. “What answer is it you are looking for and can not find?”
John sighs and shakes his head. “I don’t know.”

The Father cocks an eyebrow at him. “If you do not know the question, how do you think you are able to recognise the answer?”

John frowns, realising that he really does not know what exactly he is looking for. He starts to think about it and the Father silently stays at his side, waiting for John to form his question.

“It is not really a question..., “ John starts and his shoulders slump slightly. “It is more about that I am not sure what I should do…”

“Really?” the Father asks and John looks at him bemused. “Do you really not know what you should do? Or is it more likely that you do not want to do what you have to do?”

John stares silently for a moment, swallows thickly and returns his view to the colourful glass. “More like I can’t do it…,” he finally admits painfully.

“Some tasks are really too difficult for us,” the Father explains. “And some burdens are just too heavy for us to bear. But if we do not try to master those hurdles, then how can we grow stronger?”

He lays a gentle hand on John’s shoulder and smiles warmly at him.

“Just remember - you are braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

Because as long as you try, you can always become stronger.”

With a last pat to his shoulder, the Father leaves him alone again and John regains his solitude, silence and light embracing him in a building full of belief and hope.

After a few minutes he raises from his seat and leaves the church, a thoughtful expression on his face.

The Father watches him leave, then looks up to the cross hanging above the altar and murmurs a low prayer, a thankful smile crossing his lips.
