So last night I went to the Ritz to see the Hard-Fi gig. My friend Ria and I stood outside for an hour before they finally decided to let us all in 20 minutes late (bastards!!). So frozen to the bone by then , we marched straight up to the very front, just off to the side (very good position!). Ria then went to get us a double shot of Archers each from the bar, to help warm us up, lol. After we downed them we took it in turns to nip to the loo while the other kept our prime positioning for the gig. Eventually the first band came on. I can't for the life of me remember their name but they were alright until the last couple of songs, which just kinda descended into unnecessary noise *cringe* After another longish wait, the second support band came on, Boy Kill Boy. They were better than the first band but still nowhere near as good as Hard-Fi, lol. I did like the keyboarder though and they played a song he wrote which was quite nice.
After what seemed like ages after Boy Kill Boy left the stage, the room went dark and Hard-Fi finally took the stage. They opened with 'Middle Eastern Holiday' and the performances only got better and better from there (and they started off great anyways). I was in seventh heaven when they performed 'Better do Better' cos it's my fav song on their album. Richard Archer (the lead singer) really did get the crowd going, an awesome performer! Esp. when they did 'Cash Machine' and 'Hard to Beat'. Oh and I loved it when they all went off, saying thanks very much, and so us fans started the encore/more chanting and Rich came back out on his own and gave a very heartfelt performance of 'Move on now', sooo good. The other 3 then came back and they finished with 'Stars of CCTV' and 'Living for the Weekend'. Then Rich jumped down off the stage and threw himself at the crowd (sort of) and I grabbed a handful of his sweaty shirt XDD Then he clapped hands with everyone standing at the front (incl me and Ria) sooooooo cool!!!
Overall it was completely awesome and I was sad when it finished. Ria and I went straight over to the merchandise bit and bought Hard-Fi t-shirts. Mine fits so well and is just really nice and comfortable. I love it! Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, that halfway through their set they did an awesome cover of The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army. Sooooo good. Hard-Fi really have become my live act gods. I definitely need to see them live when they tour the next album, which I shall be buying as soon as it's out *squees* Soooo much love for them <3333
After the gig Ria and I put our t-shirts on and then went to Revolution for a drink. We only stayed for one cos Ria was really tired cos of her uber early start to get the train up here. I now know that I do like Southern Comfort, Lime and Lemonade, lol. Before I liked it minus the lime, heh. We then got the bus back and listened to my Hard-Fi album while we tried to wind down, lol.
This morning I completely missed Sociology ^^; but I went to the station with Ria to see her off on the train and then I met up with Carmel and then later Jen. I didn't get any work done like I'd wanted to but ended up coming back to the house pretty quick and then settling down to do work, after much procrastinating, including watching the latest Bleach ep, omg!! So assignment 2 for History all done and ready to print off and hand in tomorrow morning. I am so relieved, lol.
That'll do I think, dead tired now, lol. ^__^
