Omg! I saw Nightwish last night and they were amazing! I'll get back to that in a moment though, as the night before (Thursday) I went to Hellfire, a gothic, horror themed restaurant just out the centre of Manchester. I went with Carmel, the twins and three of the twins' friends and we had an amusing dinner in this empty restaurant. Some other people came in near the end of our meal but before that it was just us (it was only like 6pm, to be fair). The guy played some suitable metal/horror themed music and even cooked up a veggie lasagne specially for Carmel, Jenni and Stat. Tero and I had 'Return of the Mummy', which was chicken stuffed with spinach and mozzarella, and the other two had steak and lamb shank (I forgot their special menu names, heh). Twas a nice meal, if a little overpriced, but it's understandable all things considered. There was even a very dead toilet attendent (ie. a skeleton, hah). Was a fun night :)
So then last night was Nightwish. We (Carmel, the twins, Louise, Charly, Alex and myself) met in Font bar beforehand for a couple of cocktails. Then at 7 we made our way to the Apollo and I picked up my ticket from the box office without too much hassle. Some of us (myself included) then brought t-shirts (they were rather overpriced at £22 but I really wanted one ^^; ). Then we got as close to the front as we could (without actually being in he middle, not that it actually got that violent anyways). It wasn't long before the support band came on; Pain. They were pretty cool! I wasn't expecting much but when they launched into a truly awesome metal version of 'Eleanor Rigby' for their second song, I was won over, heh. Plus one guy kep windmilling with very shiny, long black hair, and it was awesome! :D
Nightwish took to the stage just after 9pm and played a truly awesome nearly 2 hour set. They played a good mix of old and new songs and Anette was amazing! (I may have a bit of a girl crush on her 'cause her stage presence was great). I loved 'Nemo', 'Dead to the World' and 'Wishmaster' (we maybe had this thing going with 'Wishmaster', what with the misinterpreted lyrics thing, heh). '7 Days to the Wolves' was awesome also, as was 'The Islander'; that guy that came on playing the awesome instruments rocked! Also Marco was a beast, much to Carmel's delight; she kept telling me to get photos of him. The photos I took weren't great, once again, 'cause I maybe zoomed in too much and they came out a little blurry, but I'll shove some of the better ones in here anyways, under a cut of course, 'cause I'm considerate like that :)
Anette turned her head last minute, otherwise this would have been a pretty good pic, bah, she's sill pretty though.
The beast!
After Nightwish, which once again was awesome!! We (Carmel, Alex and I; the others had other places to be, bah) went to Jillys. Peter and Lee were there celebrating Peter's brother's birthday. Taylor, and others who had been at Nightwish but we hadn't seen there, were also there. It was alright but I was pretty knackered by then, to be honest. I did last 'til past 2am though, to my credit, but I have up then and got a bus home. Was a very good night though! :D
As for now...it's nearly Doctor Who time!! *grins* I can't believe the first episode of the 4th series is on tonight! The year has gone so fast! Mmm but I get my Doctor fix each week again. So yeah. next entry will be full of him, and also combined with the last episode of Torchwood, which I watched earlier and cried my eyes out ^^; So yes, finishing now so I can go watch Doctor Who 4x01, hee~ :D
