So my birthday started off kind of crap, to be honest. I had my first lecture of the year and well...I got there late despite leaving in plenty of time, stupid buses! And the lecture theatre wasn't big enough as they'd underestimated numbers, as usual. So I had to sit on the floor for an hour and ended up with a sore butt. Then I found out there was no chance of changing from the 2-4 seminar group to one of the 11-1 groups.
So I went back home (only to have a dicky bus driver who didn't stop at my stop and so I had to walk back from the next stop, very annoying) and grabbed something to eat and packed an overnight bag up, since I was staying at Carmel's. Then I went in for the seminar for 2pm and it was pretty boring really. We spent the first half discussing how to best make the seminars productive and the second part comparing extracts from Victorian literature to Edwardian literature. Was soooo glad when it was over, lol. Anyways, I have to read E.M. Forster's Howard's End by Monday, still not started it >.<
I met Carmel and we went back to hers and got ready. She also gave me my present, which was a bag full of the most awesome little (childish) things ever (eg. Doctor Who and Transformers annuals, this week's copy of The Beano, a HSM wristband, haha). We got back down to the SU for 6pm and met with the anime society lot. It was an awesome turn out! Soooo many new faces. Our work at Freshers Fair really paid off, hee. We had an 'old members' photo at some point:
I met lots of awesome new people. One of whom gave me an amazing drawing of Reno and Cloud (which I would scan and put up here but Nicola currently has it cos of my not being able to take it to the club last night, heh). Emma also gave me a cd she made and Ken gave me some Pocky! I also met a kindred spirit in that she loves the Ferard as much as I do *squees* We did fangirl rocking and much talking:
Eventually people left and so a fair few people accompanied me to Fab Cafe. I had a go on the racing game and Star Wars game in there and royally sucked at both (and Gareth was totally making fun of me *pokes him*). Also they were playing Batman Returns on the tv screens. I used to watch that film all the time as a kid, hee~
Then at 11pm ish we lost more people and myself, Carmel, Matt and Emma went to The Ritz, where we found Dorian, Naomi and other people I don't know, haha. The first song I danced to was Green Day - Basket Case, which kinda summed up how I acted all night, haha. Was an ace night! They played a great mix of music, everything from SOAD to Queen to MC Hammer, haha. Hirra, Laura and Anna turned up at some point and had the most awesome bag full of sweets for me. I think I got even more hyper at this point, hee. We left when the night finished at just after 2, sore feet but incredibly happy and maybe a little partied out, heh.
Overall it was an absolutely amazing night, which was topped off this morning when I bought tickets to see The Hoosiers next week. Emma said she'd go with me, so I marched into the SU and got me a pair of tickets, yeay! :D
It's nearing half 10 and I feel pretty tired, but I think I shall try and make a start on writing chapter 20 of Never Forget. I'm too tired to concentrate on reading early 20th Century lit, so I might as well use this time to do something leisurely productive, heh. Oh yeah and Torres hit a hatrick tonight against Reading. He is definitely showing his worth already. Not just a pretty boy...(but he is very pretty, mmm).
