The surgery went well. She had string all through her stomach and small intestine, and they had to make 5 different incisions to get it all, but she did well during the surgery. I called the doctor as they were sewing her back up, and he gave me the update. He called again a couple of hours later, as she was waking up, and said she was waking well, and recommended they keep her tonight and tomorrow for an IV and catheter and antibiotics, and Nathan gave the go-ahead on that (we were on skype when the doc called). Doc said to call back around 5 and check in on her, and I'll pick her up tomorrow after work.
This is such a huge relief. I was so scared and heartsick before.
I like this vet much better than the one I'd been going to. I was using Banfield Pet Hospital in PetSmart, and they were okay, but very expensive. This surgery still costs an arm and a leg, but Banfield would have been twice the amount with the number of incisions they had to make (Banfield charged 700 base fee, then 200 more for each cut; Crain (the doc I used) charged 426 flat fee plus office visit (27) plus 200 with complications). Crain Veterinary feels much more homey than Banfield; they remind me of my vet back in Lebanon. They're country doctors. The doc introduced himself as Jerry rather than Dr. Epsey. I was more comfortable with them. I'll definitely be using their services in the future.
Mojo's alive. They saved my baby.
