I have to clean tomorrow. We have people coming over Saturday night, and the house is a disaster. Not just the bedroom, which doesn't bother me too much, and not just the spare room, which annoys me that it's pretty much a dead space right now thanks to a work in progress workbench, and not just the bathroom, which is fairly easy to wipe down to an appropriate shine, and not just the kitchen, which is actually the best looking room in the apartment. Still needs wiped down though. There's tools in the living room, there's wood in the living room, there's boxes in the living room (2 shoe boxes, a foot bath box, and a box I got a cake pan in yesterday), there's shoes all over the fucking place. I admit, I contributed to it, but a lot of the mess is Nathan's. Guess what he's doing tonight? ^^
I finished a dress yesterday, a shirtdress made of a blue linen-like fabric. The collar was a bitch; I had to rip it out completely twice, then had to rip out about 3 inches a third time. But it's DONE and I'm happy with it. It was my first collared garment. I started a grey jersey sleeveless tunic-ish top today, and when it's done, it'll have an empire waist, a very low V-neck, and dark blue trim around the neck. Should be a good, sexy, summer top.
I have the fabric for another 2 dresses, 2 skirts, a collared shirt, and then some random fabric that I have about a yard and a half of that I don't know what I'll do with. I think I'll use the top part of the shirtdress without the sleeves and collar and make a tank. The reason for using the shirt dress pattern is so that it fits a little better with the seaming like in a dress shirt. Those seams that run from under the arm, across the breast, and down are very nice. Except thinking about it, that won't work. I'll have to figure out how to do the middle piece. I may also have to put in a side zipper. Hmph. I'll have to think on that one. If I had enough fabric, I'd just do another shirt like the grey jersey, but I don't know if I have enough. I'll have to lay it out and see what I can do with the pattern and the fabric.
Saturday, we're having a party for my birthday. Booze, cake, and ice cream ftw! I'll bake the cake that morning, then make the icing while the cake cools, then decorate it. I've got no idea when we'll do grocery shopping. Maybe Friday night; we're going out to dinner, which wouldn't be a problem, but I don't get off work till 7, which puts me home at 7.30. I guess we'll have to have a late supper and do shopping first.
Computer rehabilitation is still in progress. I got a very nasty virus somehow (um...maybe not having any antivirus stuff? duh), and it fights everything I do to get it off there. Hopefully this thing I'm trying now will work and I'll have my own computer back tomorrow.
