It amazes me...

how good I feel when I have a clean place. I've been keeping the kitchen clean for cooking every night, and every time I walk in there I feel good. I've started on the living room (again...needs de-cluttering and sweeping and the bed needs made).

I've started on the closet, too--a huge deal because I have all these clothes I need to get rid of (3 plastic bags ready to go to the Salvation Army, not to mention the one already in my car). They're things I've gotten tired of, or don't wear, or just don't fit. A bunch of size 18 jeans...I'm a size 20ish now, and the 18s are way too tight and don't do a thing for me. They're just clutter now, so I figure I might as well donate them. It's hard for me to find plus-size clothes at thrift stores; I should make it easier for someone else. I've also cleared out some shoes; two pairs of Cons to go to recycling and one pair to the SA.

Besides being just a closet, the closet is also my laundry room and storage room and where I keep the litter box. I'm working on laundry today; I think I have one load of whites left, plus an octopus pillow that if I wash will give me another 18 inches of room in my laundry basket (it's been at the bottom for ages now).

I keep marking things in my head for taking to my parents' for storage: tackle box full of scrapbooking stuff, a plastic shoebox of the same, a paper bag of binders and quilting magazines, sewing machine, 2 long under-the-bed storage containers full of quilting stuff, 2 file boxes.

It's snowing here. I'm excited.

Tonight Jesse and Nate are coming over for dinner. I'm making another meal out of the Rachel Ray book: potato and sausage patties (the potato and sausage are mixed); beans and toast; and scrambled eggs. Then my Take a Bite out of Red cookies.

Which are awesome! Last night I wanted to make chocolate chip cookies, but I didn't have enough chocolate chips, enough butter, or enough vanilla. So I cut the recipe in half (I had half the required butter), used Reese's peanut butter cups instead of chips (I still had the Reese's from an after-Halloween sale), and used rum instead of vanilla (I was completely out of vanilla). Then I plopped huge spoonfuls on the pans and baked them (14 minutes instead of 9). They came out great. I used Pusser's rum, which is not spiced and not clear, neither of which would work very well, I think. You need a sweeter rum, so Pusser's or maybe Mount Gay would be best, I think.
