yay first day of classes, and so I decided to make an lj post about it due to peer pressure. hurray

It can go either way with profs who have only taught upper-year classes. The prof that I had for the second half of my cellular and molecular biology course last year had previously only taught courses to medical students and upper-year biology students. He kind of overcompensated and dumbed things down a lot, which turned out to be good because it meant that we had a lot less crap to memorize.
