so it was amazing. venice. but how could it not be. we got there at 10:30 friday night after 7&1/2 hours of train rides...ugh....but it was definitely worth it. our hotel was the sketchiest place i have EVER seen...it was an old castle, but it was falling apart. it was more of a hostel than a hotel...our rooms were separated by plastic walls, which may as well have been paper. and there were these creepy paintings everywhere, along with the most random things, such as a learn to draw disney characters book which was on this ancient castle-like table. we were expecting an axe murderer to come around the corner at any minute..but the bed was soo comfortable. anyways, we woke up at 6 to get some good picture (alex and anick are both serious about photography and are making portfolios..myself, not so much, but i still wanted to see the city in the morning) it was wicked because no one was up yet, so everything was empty and not congested with thousands of tourists. we took a lot of pictures. we also went on a gondola ride after lunch. it was definitely extremely amazing. and our gondola driver was beautiful. he was obsessed with apple computer becasue alex had hers in her backpack, and he talked about them the whole time, he wanted to know if they were popular in north america. i swear these gondola drivers are millionaires. they all have i-pods and d&g belts. but i guess if you charged 100 euro/40 minutes, you have to expect as much. but it was worth it. i also bought a mask. there were a million mask stores, but i just couldn't handle looking until we were about to leave, and a found a really nice one for 12 euro, so i bought it. i'm pleased. we left at 8, and took a two and a half hour train to bologna, waited an hour and a half, then took a 4 hour train ride to pescara, where we were picked up by on of the school drivers, and we got back here at 4:15. so it was along day. 22 hours. but now i have been to venice, where the streets are made of water, and so much beauty reside. i am sooo glad. here are some (of my hundred) pictures. (next entry)
xoxo alex
