I haven't been busy lately, but I have been contemplative.  I have a lot of hours in my life to contemplate, what with having to stay up til 8 this morning to pick Mark up from work.  Since that's another hour or so off, I thought I'd make a blog post.

I was labeled a "dreamer" in grade school. I could sit staring out the window for hours at a time completely lost in my own little world. I learned, though, that if I finished my work first, the teachers couldn't bitch and moan so much about me doing it. I was told that I didn't apply myself; that I didn't work hard enough. Then the testing started. I max'd out reading comprehension - reading on a 12th grade/college cusp in the 4th grade. I scored in the top 99 percentile of every test all the way up through high school. I still managed to flunk out of college.

Staying on track is hard for me, too. It's so easy to be distracted by "shinies" or to get discouraged or to procrastinate or...anything other than what I should be doing. I've gotten better at it over the years simply by sitting down and making myself finish. Some days, it is easier than others. Eventually, if one is lucky, you figure out what works and you implement it.

Good luck with the competition!

Ah, school daydreaming. Honestly though, if they'd had something interesting for you to do, you'd have stopped daydreaming. That's just fair trade.

Finishing things is my nemesis. I wonder if I can convince the world that "Finishing Things" is an anthropoligical entity like fate or liberty, then I can cross 'find a nemesis' off my 100Things list
