These kids are who? You're kidding! [Chapter 5]
“So, who do we still have left?” Nicole asked absentmindedly as she led the now larger group of boys across the field they were running across only 20 minutes ago.
“We still have Shindong hyung, Sungmin hyung, Yesung hyung, Zhoumi and Kibum left.” Donghae piped in as he listed them off on his fingers.
She nodded in response.
“Ryeowook, you said Yesung took Sungmin to the lake, Shindong and Zhoumi went off to get food, and Kibum just sort of…walked off right?” Ryeowook nodded.
“Yeah. Kibum doesn’t talk much. He likes to be alone.” Eunhyuk told her.
Such the loner, that kid.
“Well, I think I know where the lake is, so we should probably go there first. Plus you guys and water is just as bad as the tree thing.” She shuddered.
The thought of having to trample through the ice cold water to save someone else was the last thing she wanted to do today. One life and death situation was good thank you!
Thankfully the lake was pretty close by, so they didn’t have to go very far before they found it. Taking a peek around them, she saw no signs of the two boys who were supposed to be there.
‘You have got to be kidding me! What, do these kids have the attention span of a flea or what?’
When you say you’re going to do something, then do it!
“Hyung, I found one over here!” She heard from across the lake.
Found them!
Sungmin’s head peeked up from behind a large bush as another boy came running towards him.
“Really! Wow, now we have three.” He shouted in excitement.
He grabbed whatever it was Sungmin held and put it in a plastic cup.
“What are you guys doing?!” Leeteuk yelled out at them.
They looked up before Yesung waved with a huge grin on his face. “Annyeong!”
Nicole looked down into the cup that Yesung now held out to her. They had made the boys walk back over to their side of the lake, because honestly she didn’t feel like walking to them. I know lazy right?
Inside were tiny little tadpoles.
Ah, so that’s what they were looking for.
“And look, I even found this.” He added as he pulled something out of the pocket on the side of his jacket.
It was a turtle. A tiny baby turtle. “There are turtles over here?” She questioned as she grabbed it gently from his hands.
It shrunk back into its shell before she gave it back to Yesung.
“I don’t know. I found it here, so I guess so.”
Well thank you captain obvious. Now she felt stupid. Note to self; word your questions a bit better so they don’t come out making you look stupid.
He put the turtle back into his pocket with a smile.
I guess being a kid did nothing to get rid of his fondness for turtles.
Clapping her hands to get their attention, Nicole rubbed the back of her head.
“So now there is just Kibum, Zhoumi and Shindong left right?”
“Nope, just Kibum.” Heechul said simply.
Say what?
They pointed to her left where Zhoumi stood next to Shindong.
Holy mother of-
“When the hell did you two get here?” That was the first thing that left her mouth.
“Noona…” Ryeowook trailed off in warning.
“I know, I know. That was a bad word, Mianhae.” She grumbled.
She didn’t like having to filter what she said. That’s why she typically avoided talking around kids. Getting in trouble by a six year old was really not fun.
At all.
“We saw you guys walking over here, so we followed you. We didn’t have any money, so we couldn’t get anything to eat.” Zhoumi replied. Shindong nodded in response.
“Well, at least you guys didn’t steal…” She mumbled to herself.
“So, does anyone know where Kibum might be?” she questioned not really expecting much of an answer. When they shook their heads, she sighed. Figures. They had walked and explored pretty much every inch of the area, and hadn’t seen him once. That either meant he was always one step behind them, or he went further out then the rest did.
“Mission Find Kim Kibum, start!”
