I'm totally going to contact temp agencies... as soon as I write this.
I went into my new "job" on Tuesday at 9 am. I quit by noon. See, as jazzed as I was about giving my time to a "cause" or whatever, or about saving children, which would have been kinda cool, I just couldn't. I walked in, met two other new people, and our director made us do these role-playing exercises like saying, "Hi, do you have a minute for Save the Children" over and OVER again and I felt ridiculous. THEN, the other workers came in and we had like these "announcements" or something, which basically consisted of a money update and this dude putting the Faint on really, really loud, so like as to get us "pumped up." I don't know. But, then they had us do these stretches (literally) and cheers. Like "how much money do we want?" and "when do we want it?" and it was terrible. I felt like a FOOL. I got partnered up with the director and we went to MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art, where all my MD friends went). Umm, like, art school kids are way cool and stuff, but I don't think they have an extra $20+ per month to save the kids. So it was noon, I told the guy I didn't think this was my thing, he told me it would be my thing in a few days, and then I was like, "umm, no. I have to go now." And then I went and hung out with Bovie. And this is why I must call temp agencies today.
It's okay, though, because I had a kick-ass weekend. My mom and brother came down on Thursday, bringing me a ridiculous amount of Easter candy. They took Wendy and Bovie (and me, of course) to the Toulouse-Latrec show (finally), which was awesome, then for sushi. Lisa came down on Friday and we spent the day drinking beer and playing the 80's game with Bovie and Curt (and I remain undefeated). Wendy came home, we drink more, and then go see Jedi Mind Tricks at the Ottobar. They were pretty good, but cut almost all their songs short, which wasn't good. I was psyched anyway. And drunk. Saturday Bov, Curt, and I went to an art opening and I wished I had like a few thousand dollars so that I could buy some because they were f'n awesome.
Cool. Now I must find a job.
