Alex knew Olivia’s eyes were on her all night; she could feel them burning through her clothing and slowly caressing her skin. She ignored her, keeping her head down and focusing on the work she had spread over the dining room table. Only after Olivia had fallen asleep on the couch did she make a move. A silk scarf draped over her lovers eyes and tied in place brought the detective out of her slumber and Alex’s lips on her ear calmed her cop instincts. “You’ve been watching me all night,” she breathed. “Now it’s my turn to watch you.”

------------------

Liz hung up the phone and placed her head in her hands. This was not the first time she had received a call from someone at the DA’s office. Casey had made yet another reckless move and this time she had gone too far. She opened her top drawer and took out the photo she kept of the two of them on vacation, turning it over in her hands. She sighed softly and took a number from her Rolodex. “I’d like to report a member of the DA’s office for misconduct,” she said softly, hoping it wouldn’t destroy everything they had.

------------------

Four weeks had passed since Casey had been disbarred, and still barely a word had been spoken. She stayed in the spare room until Liz had left for work, and was invariably out when she got home. Liz had tried, of course, but Casey’s icy glare was enough to let her know there was no point. The distance grew larger with each passing day until Liz couldn’t stand it anymore. She told Casey they needed to talk and work it out, or it was over. Arriving home to Casey’s collar left on the bedside table was all the answer she needed.

------------------

The slice of the leather as it cracked over her back brought forth a gasp from Alex’s lips. It had been a long time since she had come to Liz for this, and it was long overdue. She arched up as the next blow landed, followed by a third, forth, and fifth. As previously agreed, Liz increased the intensity with each strike until the tension visibly seeped from Alex’s muscles and she slumped forward, allowing the wooden cross to hold her up. The tears staining her face fell silently but she smiled through them, finally getting the release she needed.

------------------

Olivia’s eyebrows shot up as she furiously scribbled on her notepad. “Thank you,” she said and hung up the phone. An hour later she arrived at the station in Brooklyn and flashed her badge. After being shown to the holding cells she couldn’t help but laugh at the defiance seeping from Alex’s every pore. She held her hand up to silence her before she spoke. “They’ve released you and lost the records,” she said. “And if you want to sleep in our bed tonight, you’ll be an active participant in re-enacting your arrest when we get home,” she said with a devious smirk.

------------------

They had been at each other’s throats for an hour, so when Casey slammed her up against her locker mid-argument and kissed her so hard she tasted blood Olivia was not surprised. She flipped them over with a hand in Casey’s hair and pressed her against the locker with a satisfied smirk. “You lost,” she purred. When Casey went to protest, Olivia shook her head. “You kissed me first. You only ever do that when you know you’re out of arguments.” She saw the defeat cross her lovers face and she licked her lips. “Say it.”

“You make better French toast than I do,” she muttered.

Olivia grinned triumphantly then let go. “Damn right I do.”
