You know, every now and then I keep reading news articles about chaotic events in the Philippines, so I think to myself "I hope Joelle's far away from all that!" You are, right? Or are all ballet dancers plotting a government takeover?

if you mean the kidnappings and the rebels, i don't see any of that in person. the rebels are all in the mountains, usually in the southern islands, and the kidnappings, well i'm not rich enough i guess. do i sound jaded? there are lots of nice things happening here too, but they never make the front page. alas!

nice things... hahahaha, i just came from a trip to kuala lumpur, to cover the UP Dance Company's participation at the Malaysian biennial dance festival and they were a big hit and i wrote it all up and even provided pictures and it's been two weeks and the newspaper i wrote for hasn't published it yet. talk about nice things not getting into the news!!! oh well.
hahah, and i thought the "cebu thriller" was only a local phenomenon. tsk, underestimating the powers of youtube. we find it amazing also, but not impossible as we have a strong parade culture in the provinces, hahahahaha!

Yeah, I had scanned over some of the photos of you in Truly Asia (har har). Pretty neat! But it's regrettably typical that those lazy newspaper people are reacting so slowly! Maybe next time you go, you should take over a government or two. That'll probably earn you guys a column somewhere in the back...
I guess if we want the real news, there's nothing better than LJ or YouTube... hooray for the internet!
