Okay, I actually finished this early yesterday but wasn't really in the mindset to do a review of this season. Good thing it's only 16 episodes, though. I really don't have the brain power to do a good recap. ( General thoughts on the season )
Actually, iirc, the phone call from beyond was from the Twilight Zone, which predates Torchwood. I think it's become a bit of a paranormal necessity, though. It's been used several times since the Twilight Zone.
I don't even remember if Bela is still alive or not. I never cared that much for her. She was kind of interesting at first, but once she left, I didn't really think of her again.
Torchwood, infact copied SPN because the SPN episodes came before the TW ones. But I marathoned TW a few months ago so to me those were first... in a way.
Yeah, the ideas aren't too original, but it's cool to know the Twilight Zone started it all!
Ahh... Right, I remember now. She was dragged from a hotel room into hell or something, right? I pretty much forgot about her until last week when her name came up at the end of the episode.
I adore the Twilight Zone. It scares me more than Supernatural ever did, but the not-so-scary episodes that don't manage to give me nightmares for years are brilliant. And I did love that reference in Supernatural - I was squeeing about it while watching.
I'm not as freaked about Supernatural, because it's easy to look away/have another program on the computer/mute/fast forward. Plus I'm older now. But I was really into the Twilight Zone from about the age of 7-12 (also adored Are You Afraid of the Dark) and some of the episodes... I didn't even need to see them to get nightmares. Talking Tina, for instance? *shudders* I adore shows like this, even though they can scare the crap out of me...
Oh man, some episodes of Are You Afraid Of the Dark still scare me.
I don't watch scary movies either. Gore doesn't bother me as much, but still not my favorite thing (a friend has been trying to get me to watch the Saw series and I've told him a flat-out no every time). But there's something about TV shows that I don't mind as much. Even though I still get freaked out really badly.
And the idea of horror movies and books I find fascinating. I love staring at the boxes in the store or reading summaries of the books, but I don't actually dare watch them. I read the first paragraph of IT and had nightmares. Learned my lesson after that...

I remember Are You Afraid of the Dark. That was *shudders*
I hardly watch scary movies. Horror, gore, you name it, I won't watch it.
