Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. - Jesus
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i got up this morning unusually early -- 4am. couldnt sleep and knew i needed to get up and read and pray. i had a great devotional and prayer time. God always makes the Bible come alive to me when i seek Him early...kind of like, "hey man, how bad do you want it?...get up early and you'll get it." it was a great time.
then, after some killer scrambled eggs, it was onto the task of making the ever-evolving fruit-smoothie. (i've just about discovered how the guys in the smoothie stores make em -- i'll be saving some serious cash once i officially crack the code!) i turned on the news which only made more clear the fact that the world has gone completely insane. children being murdered by their own parents. a war half-way across the world that started on our own soil but doesn't seem like will ever end. a radical group of religious extremists worried about their "holy book" being disrespected by US troops, while our "holy book" goes largely unread and ignored by the masses here. the list goes on and yes, the world has gone crazy.
as i turn off the tv, pray for my family and prepare to face the world outside, i am thankful for what i have and where i am at. i'm thankful that so many of the troubles i see on the tv have not visited my doorstep, but i feel so sad for those that it has.
it is possible to be satisfied in this world of hopelessness. if we hunger and thirst after it, and not what the world is thirsting after, we will be filled. take a look around you, take a look around the world...does it actually look very fulfilling? not to me. but the words of Jesus tell us to seek Him in this place and it will all make sense, regardless of what the news reports. if it were not possible to be satisfied, He wouldn't have told us to do it.
