I made it! I'm in Chicago at the office. Technically, I'm not working (full-time) yet, but it's easier to get work done when I'm here in the office. Plus, I have a desk here. I have no furniture in my apartment. My parents are getting me an IKEA bed and sofa as a graduation present, but it has to be ordered from the national warehouse, since it's a 'catalogue order,' so I'll "hear" from IKEA by the 27th. Ugh. At least I've got an air mattress (courtesy of the kids on Newport). I got cable and internet yesterday, which is an upgrade. Driving in the city is a new adventure everytime, and I've started to navigate the bus/el routes, with good success so far.
I had to take a drug test today - apparently a new requirement for employment with Thompson companies. I also had to fill out a background check. Interesting.
Holidays were nuts, family and children galore - but I lived.
