a retelling of Beauty and the Beast VF)

I've been thinking about it for awhile. if VF was a fairytale, it would certainly be derived from Beauty and the Beast. Asami is certainly the quintesential Beast and the delicate Akihito our rebelious Beauty. Asami for all his power, influence and wealth is certainly in need of rescuing from his violent world and the nature of his own heart.

Your observations are so correct. I myself find the full transformation of our favorite Beast into princehood unacceptable. I think Asami is one those characters who is good when they're good but even better when they're bad.(^_^) (grins likes crazy)

I forgot about Cupid and Psyche. That's also a very fascinating analogy. Poor Akihito! That means more challenges are ahead of him. Thank god there's no crazy mother-in-law coming between them (Venus)^_^
Feilong is the Sleeping Beauty/ Swan Princess. His brother is the evil magician or the wicked witch. It's a pity that the Beast found hin first before his prince^_^. Feilong like Akihito seems to catch glimpses of the hidden prince within Asami. That's why both are so reluctant to let him go.He definitely needs his own prince and the curse needs to be broken soon.^_^

Yes, I enjoy reading re-tellings, fairytales, folktales and myths. I'm currently devouring a huge volume collected and edited by Jane Yolen. Thanks for the link that you sent.
