I've been continuing to upload and edit photos from our October trip to flickr. I'm just finishing up the photos from Ravenna, and was pleased with how well the Aviary app was able to bring out the color and detail in the amazing Byzantine mosaics in the Basilica of San Vitale, and the Mausoleo Galla Placida. 'Tis the season for SAS to taunt me daily with 'cheap' fares to Scandinavia. On the one hand, they wouldn't do it if I hadn't signed up for the advent notices. On the other hand, travel must be completed by the beginning of April. Not, perhaps, the most tempting time for temporary repatriations.

My combined Kayak-fu and google-fu were not mighty enough to get me the rock-bottom Northwest fare that's supposedly out there, but thanks to Kayak's e-mail alerts, I found out that Mpls tickets had dropped $100 in price since the last time I checked, and so a bought some.

Barring the unforseen, I'll be at Fourth Street Fantasy. Yay!

So, David Levine is doing a reading at Powell's Books this evening. A reading from his very first published book. It would be very cool to go, thinks I. But Hal's working tonight, and a 6 hour round trip is rather a lot of solo driving in the dark on a school night. So I thought maybe I could hop a train down to Portland to catch the reading.
