The White House operator got a telephone call late this afternoon. A man on the other end said, "I want to speak to President George W. Bush." The operator said, "Mr. Bush is no longer president." The man hung up.
A minute later, the White House operator got another call. A man on the other end said, "I want to speak to President George W. Bush." The operator said, "Mr. Bush is no longer president." The man hung up.
Within a few seconds the White House operator got another call. A man, obviously the same one who had called twice before, said, "I want to speak to President George W. Bush." The operator said, "Sir, I have told you twice that Mr. Bush is no longer president."
"I know," said the man, "I just can't hear it enough."
