Random musings

I would make multiple discrete posts, but for the sake of efficiency I will blather all my updates in one post:

(Disclaimer: I only take one real vacation a year and I tend to obsess about it, so bear with me)

Heading into the home stretch of my vacation prep. Got the really big suitcase (thanks Kevin), bought some new clothes (jeans, shirts, swimwear) and Kevin loaned me some nice shirts for dinner (I'm a lousy dresser on my own). Still need a new pair of sneakers. Thought I had lost my passport but after I scoured the house for a week and just before I filed the forms reporting it lost it finally appeared in a secret pocket of a bag I had checked three times already. ARGH!

Making the big push to exercise every day for the next two weeks so I can wear that new swimwear and not be ashamed. Next week will be rough as I have a lot of appointments that will interfere with gym time. One of those events is a Bon Voyage party my friends are throwing me at Monica's Aca y Alla Wednesday night before I leave. I say 'party', but I really mean 'show up at a restaurant'. I'm wearing my Atlantis sailor hat. Come if you like.

My mother was originally planning to visit Texas that week and take me to and from the airport and house/cat sit, but she had to cancel her trip. I can get a ride to and from the airport, but I still need to arrange a cat sitter. A bit of a misnomer there as anyone who 'cat sits' will be lucky to see Dante, let alone sit with him. He only comes out of hiding for me (and occasionally Steve). He's going to be quite traumatized by my absence, but he'll do better at home than he will in a pet hotel.

Did something I've been wanting for years: had my teeth whitened on Monday. They're pretty. I don't mind smiling now. I have two more fillings to replace and a crown that I'll have done in January and then all my teeth will be tooth colored again; no more metal mouth! All the dental work has been a bit of a hit on my wallet (even with insurance), but then again I haven't been to the dentist in almost four years and my fillings were at least 10-15 years old and way overdue for replacing. And only one cavity after all that time without dental care. Hooray me!

OK, enough for now.
