He Posts?!?
Oh, hi there. I haven't posted in what seems like much longer than what my previous post says the date was. Sorry, been crazy busy lately. Work has been devouring my time like crazy, and on my off time I've been quite busy too.
So, let's see...big events that have been going on. Had an audit at work that I really wasn't prepared for, but I think that went well. They only had to ask for a couple of things that weren't in the files I handed over, and I was able to produce them so I think that was good.
I've got some union stuff that I haven't even touched in a couple of weeks because of work stuff, that I really need to work on this week or next. Being the chair of our ethics committee is great, except for the no-pay thing. But, it looks great on the ol' resume so that's part of why I'm doing it.
I've been negligent in doing my volunteer work with Big Brothers Big Sisters lately too. I feel bad, but work has just eaten any free time I have up and demanded more. I haven't gone and worked on 'my' time, because of my own issues there. I don't care to work on something that I'm not getting paid to do. I did that in my youth and while certain jobs are acceptable to do that, this one...not so much.
Plus, management has to see that we can't get everything done that they want us to get done in the time they've given us. Hell, I've got several open complaints (2 from 2010) that need to be closed. Guess what I'll be doing this or next week? The tricky part is the setting priorities. You may have a great idea, be the most efficient person in the world, but when you go in and find out something else has landed at your feet engulfed in flames...well, there goes your day. I've had too many of those lately. So, yeah universe, please stop.
We were supposed to have a Division wide meeting today, but that got canceled. I would have used that time to catch up, but my boss thought it was a good day to do some internal training instead. Seeing as no one could have missed the other meeting, we're replacing it with our own. On top of this, we've got a staff meeting this afternoon.
Let me just break this down. I will be working there for 9 hours. This isn't counting lunch. I might get lucky and get an hour tops to do some of my backlogged work. The rest of the time will be spent listening and absorbing information. For this they will pay me quite the handy sum. Sometimes I wonder but I'm sure the training will be good, and it'll help (in theory) standardize our abilities. We'll see.
I also recently cleaned up the downstairs, installed a new faucet in the downstairs bathroom, as well as a new shower head.
In other news, I decided to make a cinnamon new york cheesecake from scratch last night at 9PM for our training today. I haven't really made anything from scratch in a while and I wanted to make it so I did. Who needs sleep when you're a chronic insomniac, eh? I have to say that it looks absolutely stunning. No cracks, and it smells heavenly. Here's hoping it tastes as good as it looks.
So, to recap. Me busy. I've read people's blogs, and posted on a few of them, but mainly I'm in survival mode of skim, quick comment (if necessary), and back to doing the one of a thousand little things I need to do.
