Kinda surprised myself

Saw the last HP film today. To me, it was ok. Just ok. I have no strong feelings about it one way or the other and I have no desire to either read or write reviews or really discuss it. To me, it was the same as dozens other ok movies I've seen this year. I know this goes against the majority of my f-list and I guess I'm sorry? It wasn't a bad movie. It just didn't psyche me in any way.

I don't even feel like it's the end of an era. I've always seen the films as glorified almost-fanfic, what with the multiple -- both necessary and unnecessary -- rewrites and the actors that only somewhat resemble the book descriptions. No, the era I care about ended when Deathly Hallows, the book, came out (shortly after I entered fandom, but it was still sad) and seeing this film has not changed how I see fandom or my involvement with it or my dedication to it one whit. I am aware that some things might change and we'll lose some of the hype and the fans, but whatever will be will be.

To me, it changes nothing and I feel nothing. But I do want to write tonight for other reasons, so if you'll excuse me...

Oh, and as an aside -- this is a spoiler free post and for the sake of the parts of my f-list that haven't seen this film yet, I'd like to keep the comments spoiler free as well. Like I said, I'm not even bothered enough to care for discussion, so... *shrugs*

movies, writing, the end of a... day, fandom
