Tiny cunning hat!

I am SO TIRED.

Overall it's been a fantastic, if busy, weekend. I've been inflicting Harry Potter on brianrubin, who apparently wasn't properly indoctrinated before now. So on Saturday afternoon, we watched the third movie (*gag*), and then we picked up dinner and went to see Bear McCreary and the Battlestar Galactica Orchestra perform at California Plaza. It was amazing. Absolutely breathtaking! Also the weather turned out to be perfect for sitting outdoors at night listening to live music. I loved every minute.

We headed back to my place, since kaycee_a was out of town and somebody had to tend to the puppy. But sleep was not so much in the cards, since shortly after we turned in, Chloe started crying downstairs. I went down to check on her and she seemed okay, so I thought it might have been a dream, but no sooner had I gotten back into bed than she started up again. I thought a walk around outside might settle her, but the instant we got out... Well, I'll spare you the gory details; let's just say she was having some tummy problems.I was afraid to leave her by herself downstairs, so I spent the night down on the couch with her, and both kitties in attendance. I dozed part of the time, but really didn't sleep much at all.

By morning the tummy problem seemed to have mostly passed, so we went ahead with our plans and headed out to Can't Stop the Serenity. Watching something you love in a room full of other fans is awesome, let me just say. ^^ The Battlestar concert was awesome partly for that reason, too. I haven't seen Serenity on the big screen since it came out, so that was a lot of fun. And I won a raffle prize! I never win random stuff. Appropriately enough, my prize was a mini knit Jayne hat on a keychain. So cute! Here being modeled by the poppet akutenshi7 gave me for my birthday:

Unfortunately, when I got home afterwards, the puppy had... had tummy problems... all over her cage and everything in it. >_< It was clear that she'd tried not to, because she couldn't get outside fast enough once I let her out, but it was a horrible, horrible, disgusting mess. I had to drag everything out on the lawn and hose it all down and scrub it. GROSS.

She seems to be okay again now, but I feel like I'd better not leave her alone. ^^; If she's not better by morning a trip to the vet might be in order. Honestly, do other people's dogs have health problems this often? Make messes this often? Require this sort of constant attendance? I love her to death and I'm certainly not suggesting that I want to give her up or anything, but I'm exhausted of constantly dealing with up the truly nasty messes these animals make. I'm exhausted of worrying and of wondering whether we need another trip to the vet, whether we're being alarmist or neglectful or what. If one's not bleeding, one's vomiting or crying or making messes on the floor or eating leashes or dryer sheets. How do we keep these animals safe and healthy and happy without posting a twenty-four hour watch on them??

Sigh. Anyway. Aside from that it's been a lovely weekend! Music and poppets and Firefly and good company!

I need sleep. =P Early bedtime for me tonight, if I can manage it.
