I was trying to get my brother to the bank today so he could cash his check, and there was sooooooooo much east bound traffic (no accidents just that many people trying to go east/get to the interstate) that I had to take off through store parking lots just to get him there before they closed.
Then, of course I dropped Tigger out the window at the drive-up window. It was tragic. And funny.
This weekend...just like every other weekend in May will be packed full of family togetherness and 'fun'.
Tomorrow is my Ma's birthday, and so we are going to watch the Cubs play the Cardinals. (just in case you don't know anything about baseball, that's a big deal)
The weather is set to be perfect, we've decided to take her out to Harry Carey's or something similar after the game--kids treating for once--Aniki promises to be on his best behavior. If he stands in the line for good seats while we shop around I think that'll be good enough. See, we're Bleacher Bums...mostly because family of five or more is kind of expensive to take to a game, but also we like the outfield.
So I'm about to run out to the store to get supplies to make a poster. Something we never bother to do, but since tomorrow's a special occasion...
However, I have no idea what I should write on it.
I've thought of clever things but they're all really long.
I don't want to just draw a bullseye and say 'hit it here' or 'birthday girl wants a ball'
Sadly, I haven't got much time left to decide and then make it look nice. I am seriously considering drawing little dead red birds in a bottom corner, but I think that's the influence of my fifth grade boys.
Sunday...early-90th birthday party for Grahama--yes her birthday isn't for two months, but her children will all be in town now--and sadly she's kind of loosing it. I wouldn't be surprised if she thinks it is her birthday, I also won't be surprised if she's all confused as to why we're celebrating two months early and mentions it a dozen times.
Then we have to rush out of there because my niece has a dance recital.
And... Monday aside from bbq fast and easy...we're going to see Shrek.
progressively getting less busier as the weekend goes on.
Then tues and wed are finals days... and then school's out for summer...
And I could go torture myself applying for the summer school aide possition with the 1-4 graders, knowing that there won't be a properly liscensed teacher in that room because none of them are avail for the whole summer school session. And the superintendent is cracking down on vacation taking. I'm thinking no one wants to pay a sub.
Also...I cannot make easy money proctoring SAT's next weekend because I have a second cousin taking the test. From which I learned that by the new rules if you have a relative taking the test anywhere in the whole country, you cannot proctor the test. The whole country.
