Disclaimer: I don't own KAT-TUN, any of its members, any other JE people. I write this for fun and for other fans of these fine folks. But don't steal my plots, mmkay? I put a great deal of time into them except for when I'm randomly spastically spitting words onto a page. But I value those too...
Summary: Two criminals with vastly different styles meet by chance one day. They immediately clash but is that all they'll ever be? How much is fate and how much choice? And how will their meeting change the world around them?

Joatex's return because, well, she's just awesome and real life has kept her pretty occupied these past few months.

The Things We Can't Control Master PostChapter 112 ~An Unexpected Face~
Closing his eyes, Kame took a deep breath and called on every bit of courage he had. Then he came up swinging. He was probably outnumbered but didn’t want to just let Jiro’s men (for who else in this area would know his name?) beat him down without fighting as hard as he could.
His fist connected with his attacker’s cheek and the man stumbled backwards a few steps with a surprised hiss. “Did you really have to do that?” the man asked quietly, rubbing his face. “That hurt!”
Wait…
That wasn’t one of Jiro’s men. That was the boy, the one that helped him back when Jiro’s men beat him. He was the one who rescued the stuffed Snoopy from the apartment and got Kame to his feet so he could flee before they came back. Kame never got the chance to properly thank him. “Oh, I am so sorry! I’m so, so sorry! I thought you were one of Jiro’s men!” he shouted, bowing profusely as he rambled of his apology.
“Ah… shh! Don’t… uh,” and as Kame looked up again, the young man was waving his hands as he stammered, “Just, ah, quiet… quietly. I don’t want anyone to report this to Jiro-sama. And they will, you know…”
In a much softer voice than before, Kame asked, “Jiro…sama? Does everyone around here call him that?”
“Just… just those he owns.”
“Owns? What do you mean?” Was he referring to Yuya? “The blond boy, Tegoshi Yuya?”
“Him, too. I count my blessing each day that Jiro-sama doesn’t want me that way. I’m bought and paid for. I wouldn’t be able to refuse him…” and the young man shuddered, shaking his head.
“Then… who and what, exactly, are you? Why did you help me before if you work for Jiro?”
“There’s a difference between working for and being owned by,” was the man’s bitter reply. “Ah, my name is Masuda Takahisa. I didn’t mean to sneak up on you or scare you, I promise. I just… you’ve been coming here for a week and if Jiro-sama finds you, he will kill you. You need to go and you need to take her with you.”
“Yurina?” In any other circumstances, Kame would be impressed; Masuda was clearly quite observant. He had such a hard time keeping track of her and he already knew exactly where to look. When she didn’t want to be seen, she was crafty. “She’s never been here before this. It’s not like Jiro could recognize…” but he trailed off as a thought occurred to him. “He’s seen the tape.”
Masuda nodded, “And heard the rumors. If he sees her, he’ll assume she’s here to kill him.”
“We just want to help Tegoshi get away from this place and away from Jiro. We didn’t come here to kill Jiro, not if we have some other way. I mean, I was asked to and I do owe the man a favor, but I’m not an assassin. I’m doing this for Tegoshi’s sake and for the sake of the girl who tried to help him.”
Masuda’s face was serious as he asked, “Is she… at the hospital? Is she okay?”
Something clicked in Kame’s head, pieces of the puzzle suddenly coming together. “You took her to the hospital, didn’t you? Jiro would never do that!”
“Shh, not so loud!” Now he looked scared. “I was supposed to dump her on the street somewhere away from here like the others but I just couldn’t… Not after what she tried to do for Tesshi. Is she going to be okay?”
“As far as I know, she’s healing.” Kame didn’t want to say more than that since he promised Ayumi he would tell a soul where his information came from. “Hold on… What others?”
In a very tired, very flat tone, “There are no others. I have no idea what you’re talking about. I never said anything like that.”
Just so…
“I understand. So… can you sneak me in to see Tegoshi when Jiro is gone? If I could just talk to him, convince him to go…” He had to do something about Jiro but that could wait until after Tegoshi was safely away from this place.
“It won’t work. He’s scared now. And Jiro-sama will just keep coming after him. He’s obsessed. He really thinks he’s in love but that doesn’t stop him from renting him out if he thinks it’ll benefit him. Or just if he’s mad.”
“Well, what do you suggest?”
“Honestly? A lot of bullets and ten of your best friends. You’ll need it to take on Jiro-sama and his men.”
There had to be a way to do this! “Well, what about just Jiro? If we could get him alone…”
“The only place he’s ever alone at - not counting Tesshi, I mean - is in the apartment. But you’d still have to get past his men to get there. They just kind of hang around when they have nothing to… to do… but…” and Masuda trailed off for a second with a strange look on his face before smiling and continuing with, “…but if he sends them on a job, they’d go. I could tell them… yes, and then… out of the apartment…” Then the smile fell just as suddenly as it arrived. “They’d know I helped you and they’ll kill me, even if you kill Jiro, they’ll kill me… I don’t have anywhere else to go…”
Without so much as a second thought, Kame said, “Come with us. We’ll make room for both of you. You’re too kind for this place anyway. I’ve known that ever since I met you.”
“I…” and Masuda looked torn. “This is the only way, isn’t it? Tesshi hasn’t been the same since Jiro-sama’s men beat that girl in front of him. I’m scared Jiro-sama may have broken him this time…”
“It’s the only way.”
“Then… yes. Yes, I’ll get you in. When?”
Yurina’s voice came from across the room, causing them both to jump in surprise. “Tomorrow morning. First thing.”
Masuda nodded, while Kame said, “Tomorrow, then.”
And that was it. They had a plan! For both Tegoshi and Masuda’s sakes’, Kame hoped it worked.
