Yuletide and all that jazz
Hey, so, Yuletide happened! I have been sort of overwhelmed by family and other holiday happenings the past two weeks; even now I am at my brother's house while he and his wife are in Belize. His kids are teens and mostly self-sufficient, but he wanted an adult here just in case. Their house is super nice and much bigger than mine, especially the master bath. It's kind of like staying in a hotel I could never afford: walk-in shower with big rainhead, jacuzzi tub, heated floors, big tv in the bedroom. Plus the kids are being great and we're going to see Star Wars this afternoon, before they head back to school tomorrow. So good things, just busy.

I received two wonderful stories for Yuletide, which you should read if you like these sort of things!

And then icepixie wrote a Cupid story that feels so much like an episode I thought I might be reading one of the unfilled scripts. It's so much fun, and I wish all the time for a revival of this fandom (um, not the show, they tried that with not a whole lot of success...):

I have to say, I had fun writing both stories at what turned out to be a fairly breakneck pace, at least for me. I thought I had way more time than I did, and suddenly it was deadline week, and those rough outlines had to turn into actual prose. Nothing like a deadline to get my fingers moving.
Finally, I was contacted this fall by SomethingIncorporeal, who wanted to create a podfic of The Uninvited Guest, a Yuletide story I wrote in 2008 in the Discworld fandom. She just recently completed and posted it and it is SO FUN to listen to someone else read something I wrote, especially someone who gives distinctive voices and life to the characters. It's a little less than 40 minutes long, and you can listen at the site or download it for later.
