December talking meme, on the right day even!
Mills Sisters Headcanons for
serrico:
--When they were still with their mom, Abbie invented a game for the worst days. They'd hide under their bed with flashlights and an old atlas she'd salvaged from under the front seat of the car and plan road trips. Albany, Myrtle Beach, Atlanta, Kansas City, Albuquerque, Vancouver, San Diego...anywhere but home. They'd make lists of junk food and clothes to take. Once Jenny brought home a stack of National Geographics from the trash dumpster outside the school and they cut out pictures of national parks. It was so hard to choose: mountains or beaches? Forests or swamps? At dinner, when Mom ranted at them or cried over them, Abbie would hold Jenny's hand under the table and they'd both imagine themselves in a cherry red convertible, wind and sun abolishing everything but the long, grey road carrying them away, away, away.
--When they were teenagers, they wouldn't let each other drink at the parties that went on in barns and wooded lots on Friday nights. It would have been too easy to let something slip, any of the dozens of things they both instinctively knew not to talk about around the other kids. Sometimes, though, they waited until everyone else went home, or paired off, and then they drank together.
--In one of her clearer stretches, Mom taught Jenny how to make incredible, melt-in-your mouth pot roast. The girls would happily live off the leftovers for days. After Mom died, none of the foster moms could ever get Abbie to eat pot roast. Neither could Corbin. She wouldn't say why; she didn't even realize why she was resisting until Jenny made it one rare, quiet night after they'd gotten her out of Tarrytown. She ate three servings that night, eliciting raised eyebrows from Crane and a grin from Jenny.
It's entirely possible that I've contradicted actual canon here; I feel like my brain is kinda sievelike when it comes to the details of this show, much as I like it. Mostly I just think Abbie and Jenny are awesome and I want to see more of them together, now and in the past, so I don't have to make stuff up about them on so few clues!
