I'm back, safe and sound (more or less). It was an exciting, very busy ten days filled with crazy family, trips to the beach, over-turned kayaks, bizarre costumes, a few stolen hours to write, an odd assortment of children's literature, and lots of sushi. So, I went to the Galway Races on Friday. In case you don't know (and you probably don't. I didn't.) The Races are a Big Deal. They're this huge week long event which involves fancy hats, incredible crowds, an astonishing level of public drunkenness, and horse racing. Pretty much in that order. The selection wasn't terribly exciting and they were all either already sold out or way too expensive. Instead I've spent my time and money on the music and comedy offerings. So, I moved into my new place yesterday. I am irrationally, totally, head-over-heels in love with this flat. It's on the canal, next to the river. Instead of hearing traffic when I open my window I hear the river. The view is incredible. I can see the river and canal and the cathedral dome from my bedroom window.
