Finally got to meet my new niece this week.  She is very cute and very small, even though she is big for a newborn (they tell me that 9lbs 13oz is big, but she seems plenty small to me).  It is very scary holding her, but I held her anyways (her grandfather called me a baby hog).  You have to support the head, but there is the soft spots, but even when I held her, I still felt scared, what if I do something wrong or drop her, she could really get hurt.  My brother kept telling me to relax, saying, "If you hold her wrong, she'll tell you."
We visited for a day, after yom tov.  Not wanting to do a round trip drive from LI to Potomac in one day, we found a hotel at the bottom of NJ and stayed over.  It made the drive a lot more manageable.  It is very expensive visiting her, but worth it.  We return for our next visit in May.  Hopefully the baby will be more interactive this time (she slept most of the day while I held her).
It is always interesting making return visits to MD, having spent so much time there before.  I've visited Brookside Gardens a few times when spending shabbos in Silver Spring, so when my brother decides that we should go there, it is a tad nostalgic.  So many turtles in the pond!  Plus I get to point out landmarks to the wifey.  Here's the Mormon Temple, this is the exit where the bro and sis-in-law live (Georgia Avenue).  My favorite sign is on I95, in the northern part of the state, advertising the "Decoy Museum."  The real museum is actually right behind it (pauses for laughter...)
