holy crap, i might be out of here in two years.
I got the courage to ask my advisor, and he said we will probably do my oral exams over the summer, and maybe finish a year and a half after that. Not bad. A small, dim, light at the end of a long long tunnel.
I am having breathing issues. Spent a few hours in the ER. Not pneumonia, not a pulmonary embolism. Probably just asthma exacerbation, and i'll be fine in a few weeks on my own (so says my doctor). They gave me a handicapped parking sticker, because otherwise it was literally a 10 minute walk from my car to my desk (in 20 degree weather). Preferred parking is nice, but you feel kinda guilty parking in the handicapped space.
And for something everyone can relate to: electron microscopes annoy me. two days ago, best image I ever get, literally, 1 million x magnifcation. today, I can't get my astigmatism under control, and the focus is just lousy. same microscope, same type of sample. grrr.
