Comix

Ah, it's been a while, hasn't it, since I posted a page of Risers or anything relating to comix?

yep.

Today I'm off from work (which is a really nice change with all the traveling and planning that's been going on lately, I'm really singed around the edges) so I've scanned a couple of things to share.

First, is the comic I did on the first anniversary of 9/11, which is my parents wedding anniversary. I thought it was important to give the day back to them.

I copied it for them, and then donated the original pages to the KU Memorial Student Union. They hang in the elevator vestibule on the fifth floor. I'm very proud of that, but have yet to write an artists statement for it. I don't know why, I guess the pages should just speak for themselves, I suppose.

Next is something I did while sitting in my hotel room in New York a couple of weeks ago, just to keep myself amused:

I put to use some of the principles of the 22 panels that always work. This inspired me enough that I sat down over the last week and a half and have penciled four new pages of Risers. I want to get a little bit ahead again, but I wanted you all to know that I'm working again, having gotten around the block that stopped me cold a couple of months ago. I don't know what happened, but it was a fucking WALL that just slammed into me. I seem to've gotten through, and even though it's not going as I thought it might, I think it's going to be pretty damn good when I get it done.

New insights, I guess.

So, there you have a comix update from me.
