Baseball Blasphemy

So, I haven't been getting much done at work the last couple days, being slightly distracted.  But is has given me some time to chat with some nearby cube dwellers, one of whom is a huge baseball fan who, having grown up around here, favors the Phillies, and the other of whom is a huge Yankees fan who pays a certain amount of attention to the rest of baseball, presumably because sometimes those teams play the Yankees, or at least they play teams that play the Yankees.  We got to talking about what will happen when Pedro comes back from his rehab starts, given that Blanton has been throwing extremely well, Hamels is the presumptive "ace", Happ, rookie or not, has been fantastic, and Jamie has a lot of wins and is a fan favorite.  Add to that Chan Ho Park's success in long relief, and Myers could be back by the postseason, the Phillies can be said to have too much pitching, which is perhaps the best problem a baseball team can have.

My unorthodox solution: Moyer and Martinez can split starts.

It doesn't look like Pedro is going to be able to throw more than about 5 innings, and Jamie is never good for more than six, so why not give them about 4 innings each (pinch the starter at his second at-bat or so) and put the other one in.  Obviously, it'll mess with stats, but I think it could work.  I'd also be curious to see if Blanton could be turned into a closer if Lidge continues to struggle.
