Philip started a nice trend in his LJ, and I've been thinking a lot about the questions that he's raised. So from here on out, my LJ is going to still contain some random shit from my skull, but will be primarily dedicated to important concepts that I want my friends to discuss, learn, and discover all there is to find out based upon our little ( Read more... )

Well I'm hoping i'm able to still add my two cents.

Anyways, I believe there is no right religion or wrong religion. Religion is just religion, nothing more, nothing less, to me. I see it as a means to making one (generally) a "better" person (better is a matter of opinion). The problem is, and its part of human nature, people take this to higher levels then they are suppose and assume they are not only "better" in general terms or morality but also better than others, which is the truest form of sin. I have no beef with Christianity or Islam or Judaism etc., I have problems with the people who follow these religions, only care about themselves, and act like they care for others (my personal quote I generally use is "I have no problem with Christianity; Just the people who think they represent it"). As it was said in above post by Brendan, there is no greater sin then taking away one's personal freedom. I see that as thinking that oneself is better than another. If you think about it, a man killing another for any reason is thinking that he is better than the one or he would not have killed him, correct? There would have no need for murder if that man didn't feel he was better than the other.

So, in conclusion, and before I forget what I wrote since I'm not going back to reread what I wrote, I have no problem with any religion; just the people act like they are their deity's chosen to represent in any way they see fit. There is also no greater sin than thinking that oneself is better than another for any reaon.
