last niight, i watched King of the Hill. and i believe that that was my favouritest episode ever.
As i kinda figured out by watching the beginning, Bobby and Connie, the Lao girl next door, are going out. They are, i believe, 12 years old. Connie's father, Con, is mean, materialistic, and spiteful. I guess his neighbours are used to it...um....yeah. So Con has a Pimai party, which is like, New Years in Lao culture. The Hills decide to go so that Con wouldn't look down at them, since the Hills know that Connie and Bobby are dating. Con has another Lao 'friend' who brings some monks to Con's party to celebrate Pimai. The monks are looking for a deceased lama leader who has been reicarnated in a youngster in Bobby and Connie's neighbourhood area. Of course, Con hopes it's Con Jr (Connie). Chain, Connie's rival, also wants to be the reincarnated lama. So at the party, the two young Lao must choose an object from the pile. Of the objects, one belonged to the deceased lama, and it's reicarnated spirit will feel an attachment to that object so the youngster that chooses the correct object must be the lama. Connie's parents and Chain's parents fight, 'good naturedly' to get their child first to choose an object. Bobby, wanting to help his girlfriend, hurridley picks an object to distract Chain. Bobby chooses a cane and starts doing the charleston. the monks then all bow down, for Bobby has chosen the correct object. From that moment on, Bobby starts learning the ways of Buddhism. To confirm that Bobby is the reincarnated lama, the leader of the monks is to come and give Bobby the final test, to see if he really is the lama. Bobby learns a lot about being a Buddhist, with Connie's and the young monk's help. He actually does a very good job of it, impressing Bill and the fat, dirty guy (I forgot his name). Bobby's father, of course is very much against Bobby's newfound calling. Bobby's mother, on the other hand, is very proud of her son. Bobby and Connie meditate together and go to Buddhist gatherings together and they fall more in love (to reiterate, they are 12 years old). An encounter with Chain, however, turns everything around for Bobby. Apparently, being a monk means taking the vow of celibacy, which means no dating, no marriage, no Connie. Connie, though, wants Bobby to take the test, or else she might regret forever, not knowing whether Bobby is the Lama or not, and not wanting to disrespect her religion by going out with Bobby. Discouraged by this, Bobby doesn't know what to do. Praying doesn't help, talking to his father doesn't help...in the end, he takes the test. The objects are laid out on the rug, clocks, bells, eyeglasses, etc. As Bobby looks down at the items, one thing catches his eye. In the handmirror on the rug, there is a reflection of Connie. Bobby looks up and asks the leader of the monks. "I can choose anything I see on this rug, right?" and the leader says yes. and Bobby says, "Then I choose Connie!" and points at the mirror. Connie rushes to Bobby and hugs him, with tears in her eyes. Everyone disperses. The monks talk to the leader. "That mirror belonged to the lama." and the leader says, "but bobby did not choose the mirror." and the monk says, "but he used it..." and the leader says, "it is my decision and i call the final shots."
i found that SOOOOOOO SWEET. good job writers of King of the Hill. Looks like you guys could make shoujo mangas too!
