I'm still painting walls & woodwork, and cleaning. It always takes so much longer than I plan/expect! There was also a three day birthday getaway this week. I did manage do a little TAST, however.
Week 20 was
Bullion Knot. I think I sat down on Monday night (Tuesday in Australia) and did the yellow center and the pink petal dividers (for lack of a better term) and then wasn't sure what to do next. I ended up doing detached buttonhole.
The leaf and stem are chainstitch. I think the detached buttonhole would look better, maybe pansy-like, if it were a variegated thread, but it's OK. My favorite part of this one is the bullion stitch worm on the flower. All the thread is perle 8.
This week was
Butterfly chain stitch. The first thing I thought of was a kite and braids, so that's what I did.
The kite is stem stitch for the outline, Portuguese knot (I think--I get some of the similar stitches mixed up) for the cross bars and straight stitch for the sunburst design. The butterfly chain is the tail. The little girl's hair is straight stitch (almost satin stitch, but I tried to angle it to the braid) and chain stitch for the braid with the butterfly chain as the end of the braid and the bow. The arm and neck are chain stitch and straight stitch and the shirt is detached buttonhole. The kite string is attached only at the ends. Again, everything is perle 8.
The green stitches at thetop of each of these is from
week 19 -- half chevron stitch.
